Hello out there,
Aloha. How’s it going? Hopefully you’re in top-shape and high spirits.
Share and I are doing good. We’ve got many blessings to count and we look forward to getting this court and prison episode overwith relatively soon. Share’s been working on improvements to our farm, and I’ve been writing my book about arriving on the Big Island in 1986 and evolving into a Cannabis Minister. We’re both mindful of the other co-defendants in our case and we wish them and their familes the very best.
Share and I are scheduled for [sentencing on February 10th, 2014 in federal court and we’d like to ask you to write [a letter of support for us to the Judge.] We’ve been told that letters of character and support can make a difference by letting a Judge know that people are paying attention to the case and making sure that the sentence is as fair and just as possible.
Letters of character and support reportedly need three main paragraphs:
1. A description of who’s writing the letter and how you know Share, me or both of us.
2. Describe what you think are good qualities about Share, or me or both of us and why we deserve the lowest sentences possible.
A few ideas:
a. We’re hoping for zero prison time for Share with zero probation.
b. We’re hoping for “time-served” for me and that I’m allowed to use Cannabis sacrament while on probation.
c. We’re hoping the Judge gives my condo back to me. It’s not fair to give me prison time AND confiscate my home.
d. The Judge already ruled on July 31st, 2013 that Share and I are both “legitimate” and “sincere” and that ALL of our Cannabis Ministry practices were “legitimate religious activities”. I think it’s good to remind her of that.
e. I am the “leader/organizer” of a “legitimate” Cannabis Ministry, not of a criminal organization.
3. State that you look forward to Share and me being back in the community as free as can be as soon as can be.
