A note from Mary Marvin…
Dear Friends,
I am sad to inform you that Hawaii Senate judiciary committee Chairman Clayton Hee has shot down the two resolutions (SCR75 SD1 and SR42 SD1) asking federal authorities to release Roger Christie from federal prison on bail. Hee deferred the measures Wednesday without a committee vote.
Senator Hee killed it for reasons known only to himself. He claimed he did not know enough. Several members of the Judicial Committee asked for an amendment to try to please him but Senator Hee was unwilling.
Previously the Hawaii Senate committee on public safety approved the resolutions.
Reverend Roger Christie, founder of The Hawaii Cannabis Ministry, which considers marijuana use to be a sacrament, has not been allowed bail and has been in jail since 2010.
A lot of great testimony in support of Rev Christie was submitted.
